Registered Manager Children’s Home - Slough
We are recruiting for a Registered Manager Children’s Home role based in a children’s residential home supporting young people aged 11 to 17. This is a full-time, permanent role for an experienced children’s residential care professional who can lead a safe, structured and child-focused home. As Registered Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the home. You will lead the staff team, manage compliance and make sure young people receive consistent, high-quality care.About the Registered Manager Children’s Home Role
This Registered Manager Children’s Home opportunity would suit someone who understands the balance between leadership, safeguarding, compliance and hands-on support. The home needs a manager who can keep standards high, support the team properly and make sure the service remains ready for Ofsted inspection. You will be leading a home where the focus is on safety, structure, positive relationships and helping young people build confidence, independence and stability.Key Responsibilities
As Registered Manager, you will:- Lead the day-to-day running of the children’s residential home.
- Keep the home safe, structured, compliant and child-focused.
- Maintain compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
- Promote strong safeguarding and child protection practice.
- Keep the home Ofsted-ready and lead on inspection preparation.
- Complete audits, Regulation 45 reports and quality assurance checks.
- Lead, supervise and develop the residential childcare team.
- Oversee care plans, risk assessments, behaviour support plans and records.
- Build positive relationships with young people, families, professionals and stakeholders.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for an experienced Children’s Home Registered Manager, Deputy Manager or strong residential childcare leader who is ready to take responsibility for a children’s home in Slough. You will need to be confident with Ofsted expectations, safeguarding, staff leadership and compliance. Just as importantly, you should be able to create a home where young people feel safe, listened to and supported. This Registered Manager Children’s Home role would suit someone who wants ownership, responsibility and the chance to shape the culture of the home.Requirements
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working with children in a residential setting.
- At least 1 year in a supervisory, deputy or management role.
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or willingness to complete.
- Strong knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
- Confident understanding of safeguarding, child protection and Ofsted frameworks.
- Able to lead, supervise and develop a staff team.
- Strong written communication and record-keeping skills.
- Enhanced DBS check required, or willingness to complete one.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle preferred.
Desirable Experience
- Previous Ofsted registration as a Registered Manager.
- Experience supporting a children’s home to achieve Good or Outstanding.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care, PACE or DDP.
- Experience with audits, compliance, safer recruitment or quality assurance.
